IREDD Provides Capacity Support to the National Union of Community Forest Management Bodies
Monrovia, April 2020
The Community Rights Law (CRL) gives communities the right to use, protect and manage forest resources through an organized forest management body, the Community Forest Management Bodies (CFMBs). The Institute for Research and Democratic Development (IREDD), supports the National Union of Community Forest Management Body (NUCFMB) to strengthen the capacity of governance structures of CFMBs to efficiently manage local forest resources.
Support by the Liberia Accountability and Voice Initiative (LAVI), IREDD held a third quarterly workshop with the NUCFMB to design and develop quarterly bulletin highlighting findings from the quarterly monitoring of CFMBs activities and challenges in community forest management. These issues are elevated at the national level to be shared with key stakeholders including the Forestry Development Authority, during National Coordination and Advocacy Forums.
