IREDD Produces Video Documentary on Community Forest Governance
Monrovia, April 2020
The Institute for Research and Democratic Development, IREDD, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Liberia Accountability and Voice Initiative (LAVI) has produced one video documentary capturing major challenges faced in community forestry in Liberia. The initiative is an effort to elevate the challenges of affected communities to the national level so that policy makers, including the Forestry Development Authority, can take concrete actions to address the highlighted issues. IREDD is committed to strengthening community governance structures in natural resource sector within Liberia by promoting inclusive citizens’ participation in decision making and implementation of forestry laws and policies. IREDD has particularly ensured that Community Forest Management Bodies in Nimba and Grand Bassa Counties gain the technical capacity to manage their forest resources efficiently.
